Solar panel installation

India has just achieved the target of 100GW renewable energy installation. Solar is a major component of it. We as solar company are proud of this achievement. We are very much motivated to reach the next target as soon as possible without waiting for the set year 2030.

In attempt to make every rooftop the solar rooftop, we are trying to clear all sorts of doubts one might have before deciding to go solar.

In this post, we are talking about Solar Net Metering and its features & benefits.

Solar Net Metering - What it means?

Solar Net Metering is a solar incentive that allows you to store energy in the electric grid. When solar panels produce more electricity than you need, the extra energy is sent to the grid. When your solar panels are not producing, you get energy from the grid and use these credits to cover the costs of that energy.

How does it work?

With Solar net metering, when your system is producing more than you need, the excess electricity is passed on to grid. When this happens, your meter runs in reverse. When solar isn’t producing enough electricity, you can draw it from your utility just as you did before. This "give & take" allows the excess production to be used and allows shortages to be met.

Why not to go off-grid?

Net-metering incentive offered by the Government of India is the reason why solar is being installed everywhere in India. It is like having the grid serve as a giant solar battery. Solar battery systems can account for hour-by-hour variations in solar electricity generation. The economics of staying on grid makes more sense due to the variation in electricity generation through solar. That's why staying connected to the electricity grid is a good option.

With net metering, homeowners are given credits for the energy at the same rate as they are paying for electricity. As a result, you can save thousands of rupees on electricity costs over the lifetime of your solar energy system.

A lot of States now have a friendly net metering policy. Few of them are Haryana, Delhi, Gujrat, Jammu & Andhra Pradesh. Going solar is not just a sustainable decision, it makes economic sense also. You get to produce your own electricity, use it, and sell it to your utility company.

Take benefits of the solar net metering policy, while it lasts.
